Experience the thrill of aviation with a hands-on Discovery Flight over Cleveland! Whether you’re exploring a future in aviation, looking for an exciting new hobby, or just curious about what it feels like to fly, this introductory lesson at Burke Lakefront Airport is the perfect way to get started.

Your adventure begins with a pre-flight briefing, where an experienced flight instructor will introduce you to the fundamentals of flight and explain how the aircraft operates. Then, you’ll step into the cockpit, buckle up, and prepare for takeoff. With the exception of takeoff and landing, you’ll take the controls and navigate through the sky, guided by your instructor. Throughout the flight, you’ll practice basic maneuvers while enjoying breathtaking aerial views of downtown Cleveland and Lake Erie.

Whether you’re considering flight training or simply want to experience the excitement of flying, this Discovery Flight offers an unforgettable adventure in the skies.

Participation Guidelines

Who Can Take Part?

Age: Open to all ages.
Height: Participants must be between 5’1” and 6’5” tall.
Weight Limits:
- Individual limit: 240 lbs per person
- Flying with a friend? Combined weight cannot exceed 370 lbs
Physical Ability: Participants must be able to enter and exit the aircraft without assistance and take part in the flight lesson.

Additional Notes

Children: Kids are welcome as long as they meet the minimum height requirement of 5’1”.
Pets: Unfortunately, pets are not allowed during the experience.
Accessibility: The aircraft is not wheelchair accessible.

Experience Overview

What Happens on the Day?

Total Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours, including both ground instruction and flight time.
Flight Lesson Includes: One hour of ground school followed by a 30-minute flight lesson.
Who’s Onboard: Only participants and the FAA-certified instructor will be in the plane.
Spectators: Friends and family are welcome to watch from the designated viewing area.
Photos/Videos: You’re welcome to bring a camera and capture your experience.

Weather: This experience depends on safe flying conditions. If the weather isn’t suitable, your pilot will cancel and reschedule. Safety is always the top priority.
Arrival Time: Please arrive at your scheduled time.
Location/Parking: Free parking is available at Burke Lakefront Airport, where the experience takes place.
What to Wear: Dress for the weather in comfortable clothes. Closed-toe shoes are required, and sunglasses are recommended.
What to Bring: Bring your photo ID, a camera, and sunglasses.
Gratuity: Tips for your pilot are not included in the cost of the experience.
Restrooms: Facilities are available at the check-in location.
