Overview

Step into the cockpit and experience the excitement of piloting an aircraft with a professional flight instructor by your side. This hands-on discovery flight in Puyallup lets you take the controls and feel what it’s like to be a real pilot as you soar over the stunning Puget Sound region and Mount Rainier.

Your adventure starts with a 30-minute ground lesson, where you’ll learn the basics of flight, cockpit instruments, and safety procedures. Then, climb into the cockpit for a 30-minute hands-on flight, where you’ll taxi down the runway, take off, and perform basic flight maneuvers under the guidance of your FAA-certified instructor. The entire experience is designed to give you a real taste of aviation, and your flight time can even be logged towards a pilot’s license!

Whether you're an aspiring aviator or simply looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, this introductory flight is the perfect way to explore the world of aviation from a whole new perspective.

Participation Guidelines

Who Can Take Part?

Age: Open to all ages.

Height: Participants must be between 5’1” and 6’5” tall.

Weight Limits:

  • Individual limit: 240 lbs per person
  • Flying with a friend? Combined weight cannot exceed 370 lbs

Physical Ability: Participants must be able to enter and exit the aircraft without assistance and take part in the flight lesson.

Additional Notes

  • Children: Kids are welcome as long as they meet the minimum height requirement of 5’1”.
  • Pets: Unfortunately, pets are not allowed during the experience.
  • Accessibility: The aircraft is not wheelchair accessible.

Experience Overview

What Happens on the Day?

  • Total Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours, including ground instruction and flight time.
  • Flight Lesson Includes: 30 minutes of pre-flight ground school followed by a 30-minute flight lesson, timed from engine start to engine stop.
  • Who’s Onboard: Only participants and the FAA-certified instructor will be in the plane.
  • Spectators: Up to two participants can take part, provided their combined weight does not exceed 370 lbs. Friends and family are welcome to watch from the designated viewing area.
  • Photos/Videos: You’re welcome to bring a camera and take photos of your experience.

Important Info to Know

  • Weather: This experience depends on safe flying conditions. If the weather isn’t suitable, your pilot will cancel and reschedule. Safety is always the top priority.
  • Arrival Time: Please arrive at your scheduled time.
  • Location/Parking: Parking is available at SpanaFlight Aviation, located at 16705 103rd Avenue Court East, Puyallup, Washington 98374, where the experience takes place.
  • What to Wear: Dress for the weather in comfortable clothes. Closed-toe shoes are required, and sunglasses are recommended.
  • What to Bring: Bring your photo ID, a camera, and sunglasses.
  • Gratuity: Tips for your pilot are not included in the cost of the experience.
  • Restrooms: Facilities are available at the check-in location.

This experience does not have a physical location and can be attended online.

This experience will be held at a location of your choice within the service area.
