Whether you're new to rafting or a seasoned paddler, the Kennebec provides the ideal mix of adrenaline and awe-inspiring beauty. With expert guides leading the way, you’ll charge through famous rapids like Big Mama and Magic Falls before floating peacefully through bald eagle territory.


  • Trip duration: 4–6 hours
  • Minimum age to participate is 10
  • Rafts hold 8–9 passengers per guide
  • Runs May through October
  • Moderate to high-intensity Class III-IV rapids
  • Check in at 9:00 AM at Forks Fun Resort
  • Bring quick-dry clothes and secure footwear

Arrival and Orientation

  • Arrive at Forks Fun Resort in The Forks, Maine
  • Check-in begins at 9:00 AM
  • Get fitted with life jackets and helmets (wetsuits and splash jackets available for rent)
  • Participate in a full safety briefing from your Trip Leader

Check-In and Gear Up

  • Meet your guide and get matched with your raft crew
  • Learn commands and paddle techniques
  • Transport to the Harris Station dam, the launch site

Warm-Up and First Rapids

  • Start with gentle Class II warm-up waters
  • Build confidence as a team with instruction from your guide

Main Whitewater Section

  • Navigate thrilling Class IV rapids like Big Mama and The Alleyway
  • Pause at “The Cathedral” for a calm-water breather
  • Conquer the legendary Magic Falls rapid – the biggest ride of the day

Scenic Float and Wildlife Watch

  • Drift through a 6-mile calm-water section
  • Enjoy a river snack and swim in 70-degree waters
  • Spot wildlife like bald eagles and otters

Wrap-Up and Celebration

  • Shuttle back to base for a hearty riverside lunch
  • Visit the Boatman’s Bar & Grill for a cold beverage
  • Watch your trip photos and videos with fellow rafters
